First Time RVers Travel Experience in the San Francisco Area
My husband and I purchased our 1st Motor Home in October 2007. We always wanted to visit the San Francisco Bay area, especially the Napa Valley wine country. Doing research online, I discovered to my surprise, that there are very few RV accommodations with close proximity to the Wine Country. We did a quick search and decided on an RV park in San Francisco.
Once we arrived at the park we had chosen, we truly felt it looked nothing like the pictures we viewed on their website. The sites were small and congested, the bathroom conditions would make a barnyard animal think twice, and it was staffed with disgruntled employees to top it off. It was basically one big parking lot. You can say we felt a little annoyed, to say the least.
Because it was not what we had envisioned, we decided to only stay one night and find another park...
When we pulled into our new destination, and were pleasantly surprised to see a very welcoming facility, shaded by enormous eucalyptus trees and lush shrubbery, mini-vineyard and windmill. The cute streets, named after wines (Chardonnay, Cabernet, etc.), were lined by antique, turn of the century, street lamp posts. Not your typical RV Park, I thought to myself.
Within the first five minutes of speaking to the office staff, we knew we were in the right place. We learned that they honored both Good Sam and AAA discounts (which applied to us), had large spacious sites with wi-fi internet access, a large off-leash dog park (for our 2 little dogs), and even a 1st timer's RV concierge service which is refreshingly unusual.
The concierge service entails, an RV Park employee assisting us with backing into our site, hooking up (power, water, sewer) and even walked us through some of the nuts and bolts of our rig (general info), since we had recently purchased it. The unbelievable part was that it was about $7-10 cheaper per night than our previous choice!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there for the next 10 days. We visited many of the beautiful wineries in the Napa and Sonoma valleys, took the very convenient ferry into San Francisco and shopped at the Vacaville Premium outlets, which we found to be conveniently located near the park.
We felt we had to share this wonderful Bay Area experience with other 1st time RVer's who might be in a similar position. If you are planning an RV trip to this area, and you're looking for convenience and not a lot of hassle in your location, I highly recommend this park.
