Californias Alternative Lifestyle Festivals
If you are from San Francisco or are just on the very liberal side, California has some diverse festivals for whatever your tastes are. In San Francisco, you can attend the International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. It is the biggest and longest standing Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in the world. It is brought to it's patrons by a non profit organization dedicated to the support of alternate lifestyles. If you like Long Beach, you can attend the Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival. Not only is there an awareness parade, but there are plenty of things to see and do at the festival such as live entertainment, dance areas and booths and exhibits right next to the ocean. Santa Barbara has joined the trend is having a Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival.
Their festival is a week long event held in October. They also hold an annual Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Celebration, "The secret is OUT... Pride at the Beach is back!" Also in the San Francisco Bay Area is the Gay Rodeo. There are events held in June and September, while one is held in Los Angeles in August making the Urban Cowboy come to life from the movies. Events included are the Boots 'N Briefs contest, a pool party, a dance party, Rodeo Entertainment, The Rodeo Performance Event itself and, of course, the Rodeo Awards Ceremony. The only thing that sets this rodeo apart from others is that the contestants are either gay or lesbian.
